WET AND WINDY SEASONAL CARE
As the daylight gets shorter and the weather turns colder, here are a few things to keep an eye out for during the wet and windy seasons.
- 1. The Wet: With rain and water come chances of ear infections and parasites. Keep your pets warm and dry! Even if their head stays dry, they may scratch at their ears with wet paws and cause an ear infection to develop. Likewise, keep your pets away from drinking rainwater, puddles, or even outdoor dog bowls that may have major contamination from the rain. Parasites like Giardia can live in water like that and can cause an upset stomach and intestinal infections. If you notice your pet is vomiting or having major and frequent bouts of diarrhea, give us a call to make an appointment right away!
- 2. The Windy: With the winds blowing dry grasses and leaves everywhere, allergies are everywhere! If your pet is sneezing, squinting, or pawing at their nose or eyes, he or she may have dust or even small grasses stuck in their nose or eyes. Likewise, if you see your pet licking or chewing at their paws, he or she may have something stuck in her paw, or otherwise may be having an allergic reaction. Try and wipe your pets’ face and paws with a damp cloth or paper towel whenever they come indoors from outside.
